My Pie Journey, baking '50 Pies for 50 States.' First up: California

I recently read an article from Taste of Home, ‘50 Pies for 50 States.’ Each state assigned its most iconic pie. Some of the pies were very classic and others I’ve never heard of. I’ve decided to attempt to bake all 50 recipes. I started with the state I grew up in, CALIFORNIA. The lemon meringue pie suits The Sunshine State perfectly with its tart center and light and fluffy top. Next state in my journey: CONNECTICUT

*Note: This was my first pie journey post on August 27, 2019, I plan to come back and expand on this post. With each pie I wrote more and more, which is interesting because I had never intended on this turning into a writing project, but slowly it took a new direction. So many important pieces of my life stem from California, so I will be back to elaborate on this one.
